Many of you knew our Chilli. He was our mascot, our friend, a frequent visitor to all of our nurseries and many others, our company in the trucks, the protector of plants and the guy who thought he could take a nap in the most awkward of spots! Chilli passed away today after a month long battle with an extremely aggressive cancer but his legacy lives on in our stores, memories and hearts. Rest In Peace little guy xo 😘

Touring around Hiroshima today in 35 degree heat with our friends and personal tour guides Lindsay & Yuko from @greenfriendsgardens Not only did we’re we lucky enough to enjoy a delicious traditional Okonomiyaki lunch - we got to see & appreciate some amazing gardens. The first 5 images are from Shukkeien Gardens which host a 200 year old Gingko Biloba that was the only tree in the garden to survive the atomic bomb in 1945. The second 5 images are from Hanbe gardens which were the highlight of the day for me. Hanbe garden is privately owned and is over 80 years old. Lindsay spends a lot of time here, it is his favourite garden in Hiroshima and I can see why! The Azaleas, Ligularia, Maples, Black Pines & Cherry’s are perfectly manicured and cared for. The ponds house Iris, Hydrangeas, Koi fish and spectacular waterfalls! A must see if you’re ever in Hiroshima. Now I know why Lindsay is so in love with the country, it’s people, it’s architecture, it’s gardens and it’s landscapes! It’s easy to identify the Japanese inspiration in his work. If you’re considering a Japanese garden @greenfriendsgardens is where you should be starting. Thank you for your hospitality Lindsay & Yuko, we cant wait to be back 😊
